We are all on a journey, ”the long hike” of life. Sometimes our minds and muscles feel strong and our journey is smooth. Other times we are forced to rely on resiliency, and yet, other times we can’t seem to pull ouselves along one more step and we feel overtaken by weakness. This is where I come in to walk along side you. As we journey together I will listen, support, and encourage. Together we will trek through any hurdles to come out on the other side, to your PEAK LIFE.
Hi. My name is Erin and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor located in Salem, Oregon. I have over 11 years of experience working with all varying populations, including most all concerns, from situational stressors to significant crises.
My approach to counseling is one that looks at the person as a whole. I believe that everyone has the ability to change, adapt, and grow with and through the challenges of life. In our shared space you will be treated with warmth and compassion. I recognize the level of courage it can take to begin therapy, to face our past, and to reach our best selves. Together, working from a person-centered and strengths-based approach, we can achieve your PEAK LIFE.
I work from a collaborative approach with people from all backgrounds and ages. Most common issues I work with include depression, anxiety, trauma and interpersonal stressors.
Currently I am accepting clients ages 14 and older.
Getting started with therapy and our ongoing work involves planning. It is important to understand the counseling process. This section explains how we will move forward.
I offer assessemnts, individual and family services. I have a limited number of sliding scale spots. Services may be reimbursable through insurance.
I enjoy learning, being with nature, playing with my cats, and doing projects around the home.
I practice daily gratitude for the beautiful surroundings we live in, my health, my loved ones and all animals.
My career life began in the sales world before deciding to go back to school for my Masters degree. While working on my degree I worked with children with multiple impairments and autism, as well as completed my internship in an adolescent day-treatment center. Following completion of my program I have been working in community mental health programs. Over the last 10 years I have worked with people both individually as well as in their family systems. I also offered part time support to our community's mental health crisis teams. While I continue to support community mental health, I also currently provide supervision for new therapists in the field.
My Bachelors degree is from the University of Oregon and I completed my Masters degree at Western Michigan University with focus on Clinical Mental Health. I also acquired a graduate certificate in holistic health during that same time.
I have completed my certificate for training in EMDR (eye movement, desensitization and reprocessing). I also have done other trainings in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral therapy), Family systems, Collaborative Problem Solving, Motivational interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Internal family systems, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Clinical Supervision.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. I will work to help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.
I am trained in EMDR which has been rated “top of the line” treatment for trauma.
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at any point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, we will work to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
Relationship counseling can be beneficial to families who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their relationship. Therapy sessions are held with all parties and is a supportive place to discuss issues and solutions to better strengthen your relationship.
I offer a free phone call for up to 15 min to answer questions and see if we will be a good fit for working together.
I conduct initial assessments to gather relevant information and together we will determine the course of treatment. It is at this point that we will plan for the frequency of sessions and the expected duration of your episode of care.
I am able to engage in both in-person and tele-therapy appointments.
I work with clients from a “feedback informed treatment” approach so that your progress with therapy, and our relationship are frequently discussed in order to assure your time is productive and what we are doing is helpful.
I will gather any releases of information that may be relevant in order to coordinate your best care.
While what we discuss can be expected to be held confidential, there are circumstances when I am mandated to report concern. Those include times when there is concern that you are in danger, as well as times when there is concern you may hurt yourself or others.
I also am am obligated to report any suspected child and elder abuse situations.
You can cancel or reschedule your appointment anytime as long as you provide 24 hours notice. If you do not attend your scheduled appointment, or cancel with less than 24 hours advance notice, you will be required to pay a fee of $100.
This is very important for my practice because I offer a limited amount of available hours.
I am available by phone, text or email with questions, and will do my best to respond within 48 hours. Scheduling, along with all necessary intake forms, can be accessed through the link below. (Scheduling currently only available for current clients)
1 hour Assessment and intial treatment plan: $210
50 min Individual sessions: $180
50 min Family sessions: $200
I also hold a limited number of “sliding scale” slots in my caseload where payment options are dependent upon your household income.
I am on several panels for insurance (BC/BS Regence, Moda, Pacific Source, HealthNet, Providence, United), I would always recommend that you contact your insurance provider to verify your mental health coverage as well as whether or not I am considered "approved" to provide your therapy.
As a licensed provider my services also may be covered as "out of network" for the insurance providers with which I am not approved, but which may also offer some rate of reimbursement.
I typically am able to verify copayment amounts and will charge that amount at the time of service.
I do my best to respond within 48 hours.
